The ground floor and level 1 of the library both have relaxed lounge areas for informal meetings and work.
For individual study and work, use the quiet reading room on the 2nd floor. With unexpected views of the bridge, the Customs House Library reading room is a Sydney secret you won’t want to share.
Bring your own device to plug in and make use of the free wifi or log on to the public computers available.
Customs House Library is part of the City of Sydney’s network of 9 library branches. The library spans 3 levels of Customs House, with spaces to meet, socialise and exchange ideas.
The library features open areas that encourage exploration, collaboration and participation and a grand reading room and desks for individual work, reading or research.
One of Sydney’s largest collection of local and international newspapers are available to browse in the lounge on the ground floor.
The upper levels feature popular Manga, Korean and Japanese collections as well as books, audiobooks, music, makerspace kits and magazines to borrow. Library membership is free is you live in NSW.
The library hosts regular courses, talks and events and free exhibitions.
